Uganda’s textile development plan in 2019 talked close to 50,000 new jobs that earn a combined US $ 50 million every year.
The strategy also proposed to restore production value chain and investment in export-oriented clothing factories that would initially depend on imported fabrics.
The industry people in the textile industry end up earn as much as US $ 650 million through exports once fully implemented.
The government has failed to involve stake holders in the policies it puts up.
Our Revenue Authority is destroying the garment and textile industry during this Lockdown.
Shops are closed with their garments losing value because of the abrupt lockdown that never gave them a chance to have their clothing outside.

Most traders have their stocks in the closed shops and building owners can’t open for them for online marketing.
The revenue Authority still announces each day trying to have Ugandans file for returns and collect their revenue.
